The Marazzi Group has always thought of research - in the broadest sense of this term - as an activity of prime strategic importance that is fundamental to its growth and development.
The Group has a fully-integrated organizational structure that handles every stage of technical development for new products and related production processes, overseeing feasibility studies, product and process engineering, laboratory testing, and monitoring of production activities.

Research focused on quality, the environment, and innovation
More specifically, the R&D division in Italy relies on a central laboratory located in Sassuolo, which covers over 2000 square meters and employs over 35 technicians.
This laboratory works in close collaboration with the labs of the other Italian and foreign companies in the group, systematically exchanging information, knowledge, and expertise.
The laboratory's highly qualified R&D department, fitted out with cutting-edge testing equipment, is divided into two sections: product R&D, frit and glaze R&D, and research into raw materials and tile body formulation.

Research activities also focus on improving the existing product range in response to market demands and expectations, and improving the underlying production processes, paying close attention to how they affect the environment inside and outside the plant. This means reducing consumption of energy, water, and raw materials, striving for greater efficiency, eliminating waste, and reusing treated processing water and ceramic scraps in the manufacturing process. The department also tackles new issues as they arise, to help the company identify products and processes that it can introduce to create new growth opportunities.
