Two concrete examples
of environmental reclamation.
The "Badia" quarry.
The "Badia" quarry is located in Monte San Pietro, in
the province of Bologna. The reclamation project was carried out
in close collaboration with the municipal government. It involved
filling in the pits and hollows left after excavation, creating
a wide, near-level area and then securing the landfill with wide
trenches full of compacted material. The area was prepared for the
restoration of flora by spreading out a layer of agricultural soil
covered with a layer of hay, to reduce erosion and obtain a uniform
protective mantle of vegetation, so that clusters of greenery could
then be replanted.

The Domkerampromsyrio quarry, Torezkoie, Ukraine
This quarry provides the clay used in Marazzi Group production processes
to manufacture porcelain stoneware. The environmental reclamation
of areas that have already been quarried is carried out parallel
to mining operations, according to the exploitation plans that have
been agreed upon with local authorities.
